What is Insanity?

The Insanity workout is an intense, hardcore DVD exercise programme developed by the Beachbody team. It involves High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to burn fat fast.

HIIT involves short, powerful bursts of activity with miniscule rests in between. With Insanity, this usually comprises 3 minute drills interspersed with 30 second breaks. Insanity is not for the faint of heart or weak of knee. You will find yourself engaging in high impact exercises that involve jumping, lunging and kicking, faster and harder each time.

Insanity doesn’t require athletic fitness but you need to have reasonable health and fitness to begin with. It’s not for anyone with serious heart conditions or existing joint problems. Check out some videos online to get a taster of the type of exercises you’ll be expected to follow.

If you’re serious about wanting to drop weight, tone up and strengthen your core, this may be just the workout for you. Just make sure you have adequate motivation and support in place before you begin!
